In this project, I was asked to design and produce a concept for the end-of-year school exhibition, and the owner and the design teachers would critic our work and the best one was the concept used for the exhibition.

I was to research the company (Hunter Design School) and look into its history. I was supplied logos, colours and other key elements to help with my design concepts. I needed to come up with a creative way of presenting my portfolios of work, and there were graphic and interior design portfolios to work with.

For the concept, I was to work with the colours provided but to come up with a creative name for the exhibition. I chose ‘Contenta,’ which translates to happy in Italian. During my research process, I found that there was a lot of yellow, not only in the given colours but also just everywhere, and yellow is a bright, happy colour, and I also found that, even with all the stress, everyone was still happy doing the design work and creating their own stuff. So I linked the two and did some more research on what words mean happy/happiness and I found Contenta after going through Google Translate.

I was required to work with the space of the design studio and had to imagine how it would all hang and place.

During the course of the project, I had many review meetings with the owner and design teachers, until the final presentation where they picked their favourite design out of the 4 candidates, unfortunately, mine wasn’t quite what they were looking for.
